Mission: FAMI - Filipino American Medical Incorporated is a non-profit corporation that was founded by Niles Perlas and friends in 1999 in New York City. FAMI brings American and Filipino American Physicians and other Medical Professionals to the Philippines to serve the poor. FAMI concentrates on surgical missions and medical workshops for the local medical professionals. FAMI also performs local community service. As of February 2002, we have completed 124 major surgeries and about 14,000 medical patients consultation with over a million and half dollars in donated medicines, surgical supplies and equipment.
